About Joy and Pawsh Dog Training
I grew up on a farm near Stettler, Alberta and have always been around animals and really enjoyed working with them. I was a member of 4H for 9 years where I was able to work with cattle which was something that I really enjoyed as well.
My interest in dog training all began when my family started to breed Bernese Mountain Dogs. I went to my first dog show and watched them compete in what I now know was Rally Obedience and Obedience. I was intrigued and started to look into it some more. Within a year, I was competing why my own dog in both Rally Obedience and Obedience.
Over the past six years, I have attended numerous workshops, seminars, and training weekends. My dog Vito was awarded the number one Bernese Mountain Dog in Rally Obedience in 2017. I have also finished numerous other titles on other dogs.
Since competing the past 6 years I have traveled a lot to Calgary,
Edmonton and other cities in Alberta and BC. I've always wanted my job to have the option of something closer to home in a more rural setting. I have not been able to find anything that fits the description of what I wanted to do, so I decided to create my own business.
I want people to be able to create long lasting, meaningful and healthy relationships with their dogs. I want to teach people how to enjoy their dogs and create bonds that allow the dog and owner to be happy.
I see lots of owners frustrated with their dogs and I want to help alleviate some of that frustration. Having a dog should be enjoyable and you shouldn't have to lock them up or feel anxious taking them out in public.
I want to help people create relationships with their dogs, just as I have with my own dogs. I want to show people that every dog can learn to walk on a leash without pulling and every dog can learn to sit, stay, wait, leave it, etc.
